WHAT IS PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE FOR EVENTS?

Event Public Liability Insurance protects you, the event organiser and policy-holder against compensation claims made by members of the public. This cover can be taken out by an overall event organiser, an exhibitor, a stallholder, a supplier or a service company attending an event. It covers accidental bodily injury to individuals and can extend to cover damage to the venue.

A typical example of a Public Liability claim would be of a slip & trip suffered by a member of the public whilst attending your event. This could be as a result of an exposed wire or cable going across a public access point, or it could be due to the collapse of a temporary structure such as advertising hoarding, a stage, or even grandstand seating. It could also be as simple as scratched flooring following the repositioning of heavy furniture.
